Adaptation: Design Concept

Here I've taken my final design painting and combined it with my earlier sketch of the overall fortress that encloses the trees. At this stage I'm going to move forward with modelling the trees to get them finished as soon as possible.

  1. The design and patterns that worked so well in the previous paintings (http://burokasdesign.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/adaptation-design-with-colour-2.html) seem to be lost here. Personally, I love the previous painting but it looks as though most of it is hidden by the walled structure. Is the structure important within the story? Maybe try without, so you can still see the land at the top and sea below. This might be completely off but let me know what you think :)

  2. Sorry, I don't know why the first line of my comment is spaced out strangely!

  3. Yeah I know what you mean. The fortress isn't actually in the story, I put it in to make it seem like an ancient protected site. The camera work would be inside the fortress and all but I might just settle with having a digital painting in the background of the shore line with the families village.

  4. or what if the walled structure is in the distance as if all this is in it?

  5. So just make the ring of wall massive in diameter?

  6. Yeah! Just a suggestion though. Not sure how well it would work visually. Maybe do a few speed paints and experiment :)

  7. Oh I just realised that you said the fortress is not in the story. Well still, I think speed painting or sketching some quick compositions will help you figure out the scene
